Dance Project Saint Louis

Our Year In Review

This season brought us many exciting opportunities, beginning with a collaboration with Common Thread Contemporary Dance Company to perform Nutcracker excerpts at the Foundry Art Centre’s “Mommy And Me Nutcracker Tea” and at the Saint Louis Art Museum as part of their Family Sundays series.

Dance Project hosted Moscow Ballet’s “Great Russian Nutcracker” St. Louis Children and Youth Cast for the December 8th performance at the Peabody Opera House.

Common Thread Contemporary Dance Company joined us for our second annual “Dances of Winter” show at the Foundry Art Centre in December.

Many of our students and other local dancers took part in “Peace Walls,” the first Dance concert at the University of Missouri-Saint Louis under the direction of our Jennifer Medina, and shared the stage with Common Thread Contemporary Dance Company, the DisAbility Project, and UMSL Dance students.

Common Thread Contemporary Dance Company joined us for “The Walking Day”, a special performance about the paintings and artists of Impressionist France. “The Walking Day” was presented at the Saint Louis Art Museum as part of their Family Sundays series.

Jennifer Medina was appointed to direct the dance department at UMSL. She was a guest choreographer in Kansas City in June and was accepted as a member of Corps de Ballet International, a professional organization dedicated to the development, exploration, and advancement of ballet in higher education. She will choreograph a piece for the Tallahassee Ballet this coming September.

Congratulations to Madelyn Wansong for her performances in “Billy Elliot” and “Suessical” at the Muny!

Our Petite Ensemble had a wonderful first performance at the West County Talent Bash, and our Performing Ensemble returned to Bash for the fourth year in a row.

To all our students and families . . . it’s been a wonderful season. We’re very proud of everyone’s hard work and grateful for your support. Have a great summer!
