“Meditations on a Broken World…Dances of Reflection and Hope” is Common Thread Contemporary Dance Company’s Winter Performance and Fundraising event. This evening of Dance will be presented at Dance Project Saint Louis, and features choreography by Ball State Assistant Professor of Dance and award-winning choreographer Audra Sokol, choreography by Common Thread Company members Tara W.F. Cacciatore, Mariko Kumanomido, Katie Dalzell and Janele Oros, and a new work by Artistic Director Jennifer Medina. Performances are Friday, February 24th and Saturday, February 25th at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, February 26th at 6:00 p.m.

We would like to wish the best of luck to Common Thread dancer Jena Ferrigno and “The Endless Forest Nutcracker” guest artist Jason Stotz, who are performing in the Union Avenue Opera‘s annual presentation of Amahl and The Night Visitors. Jennifer Medina has choreographed for this production for the past few years–it has become a beautiful holiday tradition!
It’s a very accessible, sweet, and touching opera, wonderful for adults and children alike!

“An Evening of Dance”–Spend a peaceful October evening with Common Thread Contemporary Dance Company as they celebrate the beginning of their second season in St. Louis. This intimate performance features the choreography of Artistic Director Jennifer Medina and Guest Artist Paula Weber, and will have a reception after each show. Dance Project’s Performing Company and Common Thread Contemporary Dance Company will dance at the annual National Dance Week celebration at Union Station on April 30th, 2011.
Common Thread Contemporary Dance Company will perform sometime between 2:00 and 3:00 pm, and Dance Project will perform sometime between 3:00 and 4:00 pm. Hope you can join us!
Jennifer Medina is currently in Birmingham, Alabama to set pieces on Arova Contemporary Ballet. They will perform her signature piece “Women of The Cove” along with a new dance. Congratulations Jennifer!
Common Thread is performing Sunday, April 10th at “Dancing For Dana” which is a fundraiser for Dana Lewis, a dancer/choreographer who is battling cancer. The performance is at Clayton High School at 2:00 pm. Tickets are $20. For more information or to purchase tickets in advance, call Zoe at 520-5245.

Dance Project is now hosting birthday/ballerina makeover parties! All funds raised by parties, after expenses, will go to the Project Nutcracker Fund.
Each party will cost $150.00 and will include: Party host and assistant, set-up and clean up of tables and chairs. a Dance Project gift for the birthday girl, and balloons for everyone!
Activities include: a Ballerina Makeover (stage makeup and hair styled in bun), a half-hour dance class, and tutus for guests to borrow during their class. Guests should wear a leotard, if possible. Please let us know if boys will be attending so we can arrange alternate costuming.
Payment is due at the time of the party, and all proceeds after expenses will be donated to Project Nutcracker. Other parties besides birthdays can be customized to fit our studio space. $150 fee covers up to fifteen guests. Please add $10 for each additional guest.

Our Leah Korn will dance with Missouri Ballet Theatre’s Sam Lopp in Union Avenue Opera‘s production of “Amahl and The Night Visitors” this coming weekend. Jennifer Medina is the choreographer for this production. We’re very proud of all of them!

Dance Project was proud to welcome the Sugar Plum Fairy to our studio! She came from the Land of Sweets to dance with Missouri Ballet Theatre in “The Nutcracker” at the Edison Theatre.
