Nutcracker Guest Musician!

Aaron Burlbaw, Guest Musician–We are happy to announce the return of Aaron Burlbaw to “The Endless Forest Nutcracker.” Aaron will provide pre-show entertainment and offer his CDs for sale–we’re thrilled to have his beautiful music as part of our show again this year!

“Spanish Guitars and Percussive Grooves” tends to be the realm for guitarist Aaron Burlbaw. With Burlbaw’s Nuevo-flamenco (non-traditional flamenco) techniques, he delivers a Spanish and Latin blend of music, while also fusing elements from Jazz and Rock. Burlbaw has been performing for 13 years in the Midwest area. He fronts his all-instrumental Latin Jazz group Acoustik Element and supports Autumns Child and Farshid Etniko with their “world music” ensembles. Last December Burlbaw produced Acoustik Element’s 16 song Christmas CD which takes the audience on a holiday ride with sounds of the Spanish guitar. For more information please visit www.AcoustikElement.com.

A Commercial!

Dance Project has a beautiful television commercial running from July 20th till August 16th.  It shows during “Good Morning America” on ABC, channel 30, between 7:00-9:00 AM.

Eleve’ Ensemble Program

Dance Project is proud to announce the creation of the new Eleve’ Ensemble Program.

Eleve’ is for dancers interested in pursuing dance as a career and/or interested in receiving a college scholarship for dance.   Those in Eleve’ must take classes four days a week and be free to rehearse on Sundays.   They are also eligible to attend classes with Common Thread Contemporary Dance Company and will enjoy occasional opportunities to perform with this exciting new dance company.

For more information about Eleve’, please contact Dance Project Saint Louis.

Guest Performers

We are happy to announce that Common Thread Contemporary Dance Company will perform in our recital!

Common Thread is directed by Jennifer Medina and is the resident company of Dance Project Saint Louis.  We’re looking forward to their performance!

A Special Guest

We’re inviting Dance Project dancers to the studio on Wednesday, June 29th from 6:15 to 7:15 to meet Carol Jaudes.  She’s going to talk to us about her experiences on Broadway as a member of the cast of the hit musical “Cats” in which she played Jennyanydots, the tap-dancing Gumbie Cat.

She has won prestigious awards and performed extensively in the United States, Great Britain, and Canada.  She is now the Special Events and Arts Ministries Director for the Salvation Army.  Carol is married to Chris Jaudes, a Broadway trumpet player and an instructor at Julliard.

If you would like to come, we’re suggesting each dancer bring one parent.  Please, no siblings who are not enrolled at Dance Project–we’re afraid our space will be limited.  You will be sitting on the floor, unless you bring chairs.  We’re thrilled to have this opportunity and hope you can join us!
